House...Not the bank will be ours!

All in good time.

Patience is a virtue.

So in the last few weeks we have gone from nothing (no mention of anything) to "I would rather build then buy"...to...look, talk, look...sign up to build a house!

Yes we decided with us both now working FT that it would be a good time (as good as any) buy a house. We are fast outgrowing our tiny 2bedroom rental and have always talked about moving into a bigger house. Upon researching rentals we find that its quiet expensive to rental a 'dump' not to mention if you actually want a house, a decent one. It would cost us a small fortune. A small fortune we could be paying towards our own house.

V checked at work (he works for the bank) our borrowing power and lets just saw we have plenty of POWER!

So...of we set to find a house to buy. Numerous searches of real estate sites showed 'dumps' for sale! Again it seems that if you want a half decent home (meaning it needs a fair bit of work but could be livable for a while without any) you need a small (if not Med) fortune to be able to afford it. Either that or you could rob a bank - No there is an idea for V - His a foot in already!
So after finding nothing we liked we decided that building would be our best option.

So off we went to the display village to find something that would suit budget! We found a dream home but that was in the "rob a bank to afford it" category so we decided to go with our head and not our hearts on this one. We found the cheapest options for us and went with that.

So we walked out with a decision on the house, now to find a block - Not many available in this release. thankfully with the help of family and friends (who had built there before) we were able to find some land available. So we started the ball rolling...woohoo!

This was all a couple of weeks ago....Since then we have just been dreaming of houses and ideas of what we would like in our home.

I got a phone call from the builder (lovely man) this week that our prelim paperwork had all been approved and that we are set to go in and pay our deposit.

So off we went today...Paid our deposit...had another look through the rentals and added a few variations to the contract! We added render to the front of the house, Laundry fit out (cupboards etc) and a microwave under bench box to the kitchen.

Its all very exciting...Really!

Not so exciting is the waiting! hmmmm

So now we are at the stage where we wait for our contract and architectural drawings and land contract.

This is all my dear blog will hear of for the next year or so...House stuff...forgive me!

P.S - We also went to look at furniture stores today to get an idea of what we would like in the new house, but that is getting a bit ahead of ourselves. sigh!
